Been heaps busy lately unis flat out since its the end of term this week so they are making everything due.. Made two trips down to Mildly the last couple weekends to see Mum and Cassie off before they went over to Canada which they are now.. Also it was Father's day and we all went out as a family to the winery at Trentham for lunch.. Roadtripped down the second weekend with all the wakeboarding guys and we did a bit of partying and boarding was a good start to the season our first warm weekend for the summer..
Been keeping busy skating a bunch and working, skated from town to Glenelg (the beach) the other week which was sic have wanted to do that for a while it took like 2 hours but was worth it then just hung out down there for lunch and caught the tram back in the afternooon.. Also went and checked out this acoustic band doing a free gig at the unibar called Sundance Kids they were pretty rad for something free..
Had a bit of a run in with a car when I was skating the other day.. He kinda came out of a car park real fast when I was coming down the footpath and I had to bail and tried to stop my board but it got caught under his tyre and snapped the deck clean in half which was pretty devastating.. So gonna be a little bit less skating for a bit till I can get a new deck sorted, might be a good thing since i've got so much uni on.. Probably head up the river this weekend to do some boarding with the guys and next week since we've got no uni a bunch of us guys are gonna roadtrip over to a mate's beachhouse in a little beach town called Robe and do some fishing.. Should be good...
Just a bit of an update. Have been flat out with uni lately keeping it under control. Doing some interesting stuff finally, working in a group to design a concept bike for students to get to uni, ill attach a bit of a pic of rough concept idea I came up with. Having a house party this weekend we've been planning for a while, should be pretty sic think everyones managed to get the weekend off and is comin down to hang out. Heading to Mildura weekend after to see Mum and Cassie before they head off to Canada for a couple of weeks, heaps jealous! Might make a trip down there the weekeend after as well since I heard a boat was going in and I haven't been wakeboarding in ages. Really starting to miss it actually. Have been working a bit at the picture framing job its really relaxed and a good place to work real close to home, I was almost looking forward to working this week which is really odd haha. Been finally getting in the gym again too, we've managed to scrape together weights and bits and pieces from about four different people and almost have a decent gym setup right in the shed now its sic!

The last two weeks have been well.. different. We went back to uni about a fortnight ago which was good since I was getting a bit restless with all the free time ive had, all the guys came back to the house and it was no longer quiet and dead. I managed to roll my ankle skating right then so i've been keeping off it the past 2 weeks but its come good now and im back in action.
We had a few rowdy nights with everyone back and got everyone round to catch up, wandered into town a couple of times and broke in the new semester. I finally got some work lined up and did some trial days and then finally a full day of work at a small art gallery making picture frames. Its pretty good work since they are really flexible with when im available and its more focused on quality work rather than speed so you can kinda cruise through it as long as your getting everything exact and perfect. Also its only a couple of blocks from my house so I can skate down there in 5 minutes and its between home and uni which makes things even easier. Should be good to keep me busy and paying the bills for a while. Its always interesting to learn how something different works, and since I really have no clue about art and the whole process.
Last weekend Thom, Taz and I got invited back to college to help out with the college ball. The ball is where everyone gets dressed up and they decorate and theme the dining hall, the generally make a whole lot of effort making everything fancy and everyone has a nice sit down catered dinner then party's on with a DJ and stuff. Its kinda tradition to have ex-collegians to come dress up and help out so thats where we came in. Tommy got the genie costume, Taz the one that looked like a terroriest and got fitted out as some sort of Alladin creature. I think the plan was for us to pour jugs of beer and bring out bottles of wine but once we found out that were were actual proper catering staff we ended up drinking more beer than we were pouring and just went and wandered around catching up with everyone from college we hadn't seen in ages. It was an awesome night which ended with us all crashing in a mate's flat which leads me to the next part of the story. Also our 'real' clothes conveniently got locked in a cupboard for which they lost the key so we got to wander around in our awesome costumes until lunch the next day.
A couple days later the boys at 3Edward st weren't feeling too shit hot like we were coming down with something and we found out the boys in the flat we stayed in had just been tested and had swine flu. By now Thom and I had a full on fever and nausea and stuff so we headed down to the emergency department to find out what was going on. They gave us some sexy face masks to wear and decided we were about a 1/10 on the priority list and so we waited about 3 1/2 hours to be seen, possibly the most uncomfortable time ever spent at a hospital. But at least no one wanted to sit next to the two guys wearing face masks coughing their guts up. When we finally were seen we were told they was no cure and that it was just a really, really bad flu and we should stay home and sleep. That was enough for us and so we proceeded to watch the most amount of movies I ever have a 4 day period.
Fortunately were feeling a whole lot better and possibly will even make it into uni later this week, not the most fun week but at least now I can say I lived through swine flu. Oh yea and we also went down to a surprise party for Pat that his girlfriend has organised since he has been living in Australia for one whole year now which was pretty fun, but of a BBQ and Taz dared Hickin $5 to eat a candle, which the poor uni student clearly couldn't refuse. Also in birthday mode our little Korean friend Semi brought the most amazing ice-cream cake ever around for Taz and Tommy's birthday. | .jpg) |

Just as Mum and Cassie headed off back to Mildura Sunday morning, Tristo promptly appeared at the front door boards in hand and with a nice digital SLR to play with and a day full of warm sunshine.. We aimlessly headed off down the back streets exploring and adventuring, finding a pretty sweet two-level car park that joined up on the road, so we got some speed up and sessioned that for a while.. We adventured through a huge park with heaps of things to play on and there was a race track with these little bike/cars kids were racing that were surprisingly fast! Across town down south we found the Gillies St Markets which happen one a month at a little primary school and have heaps of vintage clothing (meaning hot girls) and lots of wicked food and music to check out.. We had a bit of a sus of everything on display and tried out all the samples and got some wicked little pancakes..
We eventually got lunch at the central markets in the asian food court just as they were packing up and got the $5 all you can eat special! There was stacks of little things to explore on the way up there going down random streets and alleys, lots of wicked street art and designs hidden away in courtyards off the beaten track.. We ventured back home following the torrens (the river) which has some pretty rad smooth and windy tracks which are perfect for a carve on the longboard..
Following reports of rain tuesday, we headed out to Henly Beach monday morning to explore.. We longboarded up along the beach to Grange beach and checked out the happenings down there running into some people we knew out that way.. We also checked out where the torrens meets the ocean which has a curved concrete waterfall which is the perfect winch spot, so thats now been added to the list.. Looking for cheap dinner again we found ourselves at the casino where they put on an awesome burger, beer and chips deal for less than $10! We watched the cricket for a while and explored the casino before heading to City Skate (awesome skate park under lights in the middle of the city), and everyone was just leaving so we had the whole park to ourselves and shredded for about 3 hours until we could barely move, but we learnt a bunch of new things which was sic..
Finally today (Tuesday) it was still pretty warm and the rain hadn't yet exposed itself so we jumped on the computer looking for a new skate park to explore.. We found ourselves in Mt Barker (which is in the Adelaide Hills) and explored the town, its really just another hills town with a whole bunch of bakerys and op shops.. After driving a lot of circles we found ourselves at this awesome skate park up on a hill over looking a huge lake (another perfect winch spot) and we played there for ages till we again could barely walk.. It was sic as we both learnt some more new things and skating with other people like that is awesome to push each other and progress.. There were also these young locals there killing it which was sic to watch..
All in all an awesome couple of days and im totally wrecked, but really hope it doesnt rain tomorrow for as long as possible so i can fit some more in!! Heres a couple pics of the trip along the way::

Ok I think i've sorted out the commenting bit so you can easily leave comments either as your name or as anonymous.. Let me know if ya have any problems..
This weekend Mum and Cassie came over to Adelaide to visit, crashing on my couch as usual. I headed down to the Boat Show at the Convention Centre Friday night to have a look at all the new boats and catch up with all the other guys going in for a look. It's always pretty rad to see the new boats but its pretty much the same every year with a few new shiny bits on the dash and stuff like that. I managed a total 2 hours talking to the reps and catching up with everyone before I was over it and bailed to go meet mum.. We did a bit of wandering around town and shopping over the weekend went out for tea to Madame Wu's a nice chinese? resuraunt, it was pretty nice.. I think Cassie got in a bit of driving on the way over here and home which is good since she just got her Learners.. I think they ate out mostly actually since my house doesn't really have any food in it at the moment.. It was a pretty chilled out weekend and always nice to have people come visit =)..
Its been a crazy busy last week.. We had flat out rain for ages which made it really hard to get out and do anything, I went and wandered around the parade for a bit last week but got soaked so Tristo, Semi, Hickin and myself decided to drive up to the Barossa to Tanunda to Hickin's place to meet his parents and see where he lives. Up there they also have a vineyard with a pretty big dam which is full of water at the moment so we had a bit of a sus (in the dark, rain and mud with torches) to see if it was do-able to put a rail in there and winch it. It all looks good to were gonna try and get that happening in the next couple of weeks.
The next day we finally got some sunshine and everything dried up pretty quickly so Trist and I packed everything into the car and just started driving, we went and checked out this outdoor adventure store called Anaconda which has a huge rockclimbing wall in the centre and you get like 4 climbs for $3! We had a play on that and it didn't take long till our arms and legs were shaking and we had to have a break. We headed down to Glenelg (the beach) and took our longboards and skated along the Esplanade right next to the beach down to Brighton (the next pier) and visited some friends down there.. Somehow we managed to get a lift back, which was awesome since it was all uphill, and had some lunch up there. We skated up along the pat which is a bit of a river outlet to the ocean into West Beach skate park to see if it was worth driving around for a skate but it was full of feral little kids on holidays, so we bailed on that idea. There was heaps of little random detours that kept us busy all arvo and we finally made it back into town and headed down to the Havey (a pub) where they have 2 Pints and 2 Parmy's for $20 which was awesome, except I parked down a side street near some houses for an hour and got a ticket because apparently I needed some permit.. So my cheap dinner turned out to be not so cheap after all. Anyways heres some pics of what went down: | |
Spent the weekend back home catching up with everyone was really good to get away from Adelaide for a while since my house is soo quiet at the moment with everyone away on holidays. Went out wakeboarding and taught mum how to ride my longboard (skateboard), she loved it. Tried to do a bit of a roadtrip visiting all the skateparks on the way back to Adelaide but it was raining on and off and I only managed to skate one before they all got too wet which sucked, but maybe next time. Instead I decided to take a bit of a detour and drive through the Barossa Valley and have a look at the little towns there cause I havent been out that way in a long time, was a pretty cool windy drive good for something different..
Its been a busy week since exams finished.. Went out to town a couple of times, did a heap of skating hit up some parks with Tristo and did some longboarding around town with Hickin, we did a whole lap of Adelaide city exploring around the place which took like 2 hours.. I got a new phone, hit the gym a couple of times.. Lots of sleeping in and a bit of playstation.. Have been job searching, dropping my resume in a few places tomorrow.. Went and explored the parade down the road from my house and just generally keeping busy doing all the stuff I didnt have time for when uni was on.. Pretty good start to the uni break I reckon..
Heres just a couple of pics of my place in Adelaide. Its a pretty big old house with a nice patio and bit of a backyard which is pretty sweet, there are 4 of us uni guys living here.. We've also got a bit of a gym setup goin on in the shed and the house is right near the shops and just down the road from uni so its pretty well setup..
